Especially for people who very rarely eat fish, there is a significantly increased need for omega-3.

Fish is no longer regularly on the table in most families these days. “Friday is the fish day” – that was once. Our eating habits have changed fundamentally over the years. Only a minority of the population follows the recommendation of the German Society for Nutrition (DGE) – one or two fish meals with sufficient omega-3 per week. The majority of Germans, therefore, do not reach the minimum intake recommended by the DGE of 250 mg EPA + DHA per day.

According to consumption studies, children and younger women ingest worryingly low amounts of omega-3. Compared to the significantly higher intake recommendations of other countries, the deficit in the intake of EPA and DHA in Germany is immense overall.
